Our Goals

Our generations’ goals, in my eyes our generation goals should be to accept same sex marriage, and improve our educations system. Protest has been going on for few years now on the same sex marriage. However many people are against it and also many people who agree to accept same sex marriages. Sooner than later one will see same sex marriages in our communities. Many humans in the older generations  are against the same sex marriage because back in the days they were not exposed to such things. They also do not want to accept the fact that a typical family image has  change and is changing.  The image is changing because humans today are getting married with other humans form different backgrounds and ethnicities.  We all need to accept the fact that everyone has a different view of what a perfect family looks like and that is fine but that does not give the right for other humans to protest against the gay community and their view on a perfect family.
Since my major is liberal studies for one of my classes I am require to do community service as a teacher assistance. I am doing my hours at this school in Redwood City called Hoover Community schools. I can say that from just visiting the first day I knew it myself that these children are not getting an education like a child from Belmont would get. Working there for the last weeks has proven to me that our government really does need to get involve with our education. I really hope that in the future that we get more involve and really ask what is going on at these schools because I have heard very sad stories about a child’s education.

movement

On April 15, 2011 I spoke to the class about the day of silent, which after I spoke about what the day of silent means I felt very proud of myself. Do to the fact that if I was back in high school I would not have the strength to speak in front of my classmates of a gay movement . I was afraid to protest or speak up for myself because in high school so many teens make fun of each other and put others down. That feeling s very painful even though one is not getting hit psychically words can really damage a human.  Now that I’m in college I have not been scared to speak up for my rights. Also taking this history class has really open my eyes that one most do crazy things in life so that others respect you or give you the rights that one is fighting for.  The class went on with speaking about the gay community and religious beliefs. Being a member of the gay community and having many gay friends when speaking about religious believes many of them take it as a joke. However I was born into a catholic family and I do believe in god I do pray every night and I do believe that god loves me for who I’ am not for you I love. Many of my gay friends take religion as a joke because religious people see us as sinners and evil humans because we are going against the bible. That is way many of them do not believe in the bible because humans that are very religious see us as aliens. When in reality we are just humans try to live a happy and make our dreams come to like everyone else. It’s very heartbroken when religious people and our own family look down up on you and even ask you how do you live with yourself knowing that you’re doing something evil in gods eyes? I’m very glad that the government is bring educating every student in California about the gay history because we to are heroes.

Rock it like Barbie

.
I really enjoy how the author of this book opens up every chapter with an extremely interesting topic. The author does a good job making the reader start thinking about their opinion, on just the first paragraph. The start of chapter 24 speaks on a topic that I would have never thought that would be in a college text book which is Barbie. When one thinks about Barbie the first image that comes to one’s mind is a white very attractive doll with the perfect everything. However some parents in the United States do not see what a perfect doll can do to their child development. Children today mostly very young girls start to playing with Barbie’s at the age 5. They keep on playing with these toys until they grow out of them.  Even though they grow out of playing with these dolls these young girls’ even boys want to grow up and be as perfect as Barbie. One can say that the Barbie doll may affect little girls more because they  have the same features as a Barbie doll. Children being exposed to these dolls that have outrageous bodies can make a child want to have a perfect body just like their dolls or even dress up with very revealing clothing like their dolls. This issue continues with the fact that the Mac makeup Company started a line with the Barbie Company.  The makeup makes one look just like a Barbie which is what little girls today might really want to grow up to be a perfect Barbie.  The United States can influence a lot of countries but however some of those other countries see our influence very negative. For example in Iran they have to dolls called Sara and Dara which are suppose to replace Barbie. They started these dolls so that they can have a more positive influence on children on like Barbie.

The  chapter 23 was about countries getting their independence from the British. However throughout the reading they speak about two humans who really touched the world with their actions and worlds. Nelson Mandela and Mohandas Gandhi this two men lived in two different time periods however they were both wonderful leaders that wanted the best for their countries. Nelson Mandela was a strong man whom wanted to live in a society where everyone’s voice was heard.  Mandela’s dream was to live in a harmony type of world and also wanted everyone to be equally.  Mandela felt like the government was not doing a great job, he wanted to overthrow his countries government because of this thought he was sent to prison for twenty-seven years.  In 1990 he was released from prison and in 1994 he become the president of his country. This man followed he’s dreams and accomplished them and never did he hurt someone. Gandhi to was a great leader just like Mandela, Gandhi started is whole live at a very young age getting married at age thirteen. This man today is very looked up to because he was very shy and very small but that did not stop him from fighting for his rights. Gandhi was a man that help many people get their freedom. Nelson and Gandhi are two leaders that people should look up today because both of them were heard that without going to war. All they did was fight with words. I find it very interesting how I’m very sure that Nelson looked up to Gandhi and it crazy how Martin Luther King JR looked up two both of them. It seem like they live within each other these great wonderful leaders.

ch 21

Chapter 21 was all about the down hills that many countries face throughout history. Such as wars, depression and groups of people wanting to overthrow one culture. However it’s very wild just thinking about how many humans were killed and how some families were destroy during these events.  Reading about the wars that had happened such as World War I and World War II are both breath taken issues. Do to the fact that many of the humans who fought in those wars started at age 14 or even younger. This is a very crazy thought because today most parents would never let their 14 year old child experience such a terrible situation. 14 year old humans are very young they do not even know how to go about some situations just thinking that back in the day they fought at that age is awful. Also it’s very sad how we were all fighting against each other to make a country change its views and what not. I cannot even fathom  how these men could just go and bomb these other countries knowing that they were killing not only thousands of humans but also young children and babies. On the other hand yes we face very sad situations as a country but today most of the world is welling to help each other out, I feel like today we have small wars going on that are similar to the pass wars that the United States has face. We the citizens do not hear or pay much attention to them because we are so cutup with our own lives. When we should be paying very much attention to these issue. They might not affect our live but the lives of the upcoming generations which would be our children.

CH20

Throughout the reading I found myself getting very disappointed with that fact that numerous cultures and home lands of native people were destroy. Many European colonial empires did not only take over the lands throughout the world but they also made humans as in Africans suffer so much pain, Killing raping doing whatever they pleased with these humans. I have always wondered since I was very young why did these humans have to go through this horrible life? Most people believe because things happened for a reason. These humans had to face this awful life for what?, because till this day we still see a lot of racism. We still see groups of colored people living in the bad neighborhood and groups of whit healthy people living in a great nice looking neighborhood.  I bring this up because in the book they mention how they started to separate each other by colored. I guess one can say that maybe we can learn something from this issue which is to be strong and hope for change. At the same time I really believe that if Colonial Empires never happened then we humans would not see each other more superior then other ethnicities.  I strongly agree that the colonial empires are way we think that we might be better than other cultures and ethnicities.  As for example when the men in the book in page 589 says that they did not want to teach the Africans English because of danger.  They did not want them to try and empower them the British men were afraid of them being smart as they were.

Collapse

Though Collapse was a very long reading assignment it was extremely remarkable. I went in reading the book with a whatever kind of attitude just doing the reading because we have to. Once I was done with the reading I learned numerous issues that are continuously getting worst in our world.  Also the reading got me really questioning about how we go about things such as our life styles, how we think about other humans that are not citizens coming into our homelands for a better living. The main question that I would ask if I was a teacher to a group of students is what have we done to this beautiful world?  The author of Collapse in the reading speaks about like 12 big problems that are happening today on our earth at this moment. The one topic that grabbed my attention was when he spoke about immigration.  The immigration subject has been around for countless years now, we always hear people speaking about how they don’t really belong in the United states. On the other hand we have a group of people saying how they just want to make a better living. As we all know Los Angles is one of the cities in California that has a great number of immigrants.  Also many citizens might think that LA is so impacted do to the fact that there are so many immigrants living there. We citizens don’t really think outside the box at times. We are blaming harmless humans the immigrants for crowding up a city. We are also blaming them for taking over our jobs.  When really the jobs that this humans are doing is not a job that one single citizen would want to do. I personally do not know any citizen that would go out and pick fruits and other types of foods out in the fields for a really low rate of pay.  I really just breaks my heart nowing that their is so many humans that come to our lands for a better living and there are so many citizens that are so rude to them. Making them go back home having to leave their children with other families so that they have a great futher better then their parents. The point is that we should not blame other for crowding up our cities because it’s really us citizens that are crowding up LA. Los Angles is so pack because that is one of the cities in the United States that is known to make some humans dreams come true. Numerous young adults want to  live in La for the reason that of college, fame, night live, and media so if we think about it immigrants might have a little to do with the impact but It’s really not hurting any of us. If we want this world to be a better place and if we want all these issues to go away we the people need to learn how to respect and love each other. Once we all start working together we can start seeing change in the issues that might destroy our world soon.
