Revolution

The Atlantic Revolution and their Echoes the American, French, Haitian, and the South American seems like all the citizens of these countries were all fighting for the same reasons. They fought for polities, slavery, nationalism and taxes was one of their big issues as well.  All of these countries really just wanted to run their governments all in their own way or in other countries the Monarchies really just wanted to rule everyone. For this reason is way they started classes such as low, middle and high class. All of these citizens fought for their freedom, equality, and religious believes. After reading the chapter what really called my attention was the Revolution of Haitian. The White had about 8,000 plantations which is a very hug number.  The white made the Haitian people work very hard making them produce about 40 percent of the sugar and coffee in the world. It’s interesting how they Haitian natives over powered the white fighting for their rights which I thought was really amazing. The white’s got to experience with the Haitians natives’ people experience which was a lot of pain and sadness.

Sokhon

Even though we did not have to finish the reading for the Somaly book by the end of the week I have been done with it for more than two weeks now. I’m very glad that I get a hold of this book because it did not only teach me about the issues that are going on in Cambodia but it also touched me in many ways. The book has made me make a goal in this life time that I would love to accomplish now but I cannot. I really would love to go to Cambodia and help these young girls. I extremely would love to hear their stories told by them. Even though I would want to go now at this moment I cannot but I can say that I’m doing my best to represent NDNU as volunteer in the workshops/foundations that will be happening in New York this spring break. However many of us students see spring break as a time to get crazy and party with friends. I personally feel like there is always time for that throughout your life time yet there is not always time to help the people in need because you might just be a little to late or you might just not have the time anymore. However the one story that really made me want to offer my time to this foundation was when I read the story of Sokhon it was very depressing just hearing a young innocent girl question god about her experience wanting and answer that no human can every answer. Her question was why would god put such a young girl through so much pain when she has not done bad. Which makes me question god as well, why is god putting these girls in these horrible pathways or is it not god maybe it’s just their destiny who know only god does.

“The Road of Lost Innocence” has been making an impact on my life, it has also made me realized how truly lucky I am to have the life I live. Even though at times I do not agree with the horrible problems I have to face, I always remember how those extremely young girls in the book are facing many worst problems then I am. However though these girls go through so much pain they are very strong humans that I admirer because they do  not give up and having so much hope. Hope is the key to life which is what I have learned from the reading.  The last chapters we had to read for class just really took over me, I tried to picture myself in the shoes of these girls it was extremely hard for me to do. It made me think about what would I do if I was a young girl in Cambodia who experience all of this issues. I strongly believe that I would not make it, if I was in their position I would have given up and I would not have any hope which is what  one really needs to have hope and believe that god will make away to get one out of that situation. The part from the book that really touched my heart was when she tells the story of Tom Dy. When Somaly mention that she passed away I did not want to believe it because she was the only girl who really wanted to strive to help the other girls who were still prostitutes. Tom Dy story was really  painful do to the fact that this young girl was not only a prostitute but she was hurt physical and she had a diseases not are not curable. People say God puts us in situations to learn from them or to teach someone else something but I just do not understand why Tom Dy had to face so many obstacles.  I have learn a lot from that young girl even though it was not the whole story of her life. The book has really been opening my eyes and I wish I could go to Cambodia and help.
